Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park is a national park on New Zealand’s South Island protecting the alpine environment of Aoraki/Mount Cook and its surrounding peaks and valleys. It is a favourite amongst visitors to New Zealand. Not only because of its natural beauty, but also because it is quite accessible – compared to other alpine environments. Numerous hiking trails attract adventurers, while the peaks challenge climbers and alpinists from all around the world. There are several campsites in the valley and a few alpine huts scattered over the area. Make sure to check in at the visitor’s center to register before you venture into the park.
