Altiplano

The Altiplano is one of the world’s great high-altitude landscapes — a vast plateau crossing Bolivia, Peru, Chile and Argentina at an average elevation of 3,750 metres, where the air is thin, the light is relentless, and the scale of everything is difficult to absorb. Salt flats, volcanic lakes, flamingo colonies, and distant snowcapped cones. It is one of the most visually extraordinary regions on earth, and one of the least forgiving to visit.
